ROHINI FLP Motors.

Shanco has over the past 8 months successfully developed the `ROHINI’ Single and Three Phase Flame Proof Motors for rating from 90 watts to 1500 watts. Our motors have obtained complete statutory approvals for this motor from CMRI- Dhanbad, BIS- Mumbai and C.C.O.E.-Nagpur for gas groups IIA and IIB.

APPLICATIONS:
PETROL DISPENSING MACHINES;
MAN COOLERS;
FANS;
PUMPS;
AIR CONDITIONERS.

The ROHINI Single phase motor offered is of capacitor start & run type, based on a unique exclusive stamping developed by us. There are few specific features of capacitor start & run motors, which should be noted.
1) These motors have a higher power factor compared to std. induction motors.
2) It is desired that the motor has a HIGHER EFFICIENCY at rated load resulting in lower power consumption. ( Power input = output power divided by efficiency. Power factor has no bearing on input power, though it may have on current)
3) Keeping this in mind we have developed our ROHINI single-phase FLP motor, which has a high power factor & also higher efficiency.
4) Our motors have a higher efficiency at rated load. The capacitor run motor has peculiar characteristic that it can be designed for highest efficiency at a given load even when it may consume somewhat higher watts at near no load conditions. This is due to the load sharing of the main and
auxiliary windings which vary with load
5) The motor is particularly developed for petrol pump duty amongst other
applns. For this duty the perf. details are as under:

ENERGY SAVING
At rated load of ¾ HP, the ROHINI motor consumes 100 watts less than the currently used motors.
Assuming a usage of 200 pumping operations. per day at 2 minutes per operation,. the motor is operational for 400 min. or 6.5 hrs/day.
Thus the energy saving is 0.65 units/day. At the current rate of energy at Rs.6/- per unit the daily saving is Rs. 3.90 or Rs.1,400/- per year. If capitalised at 8% p.a. this is equivalent to a capital investment of Rs. 17,500/-. Thus the motor pays for itself in less than three months! This saving in operating costs should be considered while considering the techno-commercial aspects of the motor.

CENTRIFUGAL SWITCH
The centrifugal switch mechanism used is similar to the best motor available in India. Each motor is subjected to 20 start/stops to check the reliability of the switch before despatch.

SPECIAL STAMPING DESIGN
Also due to the special stamping design (Design protected under Intellectual Property rights) the power to weight ratio has been improved. When compared with other motors in the market, our motor weighs 1.5 kg less.

THERMAL PROTECTION
The motor can be thermally protected if required. The Thermal protection is tested for 19 day locked rotor test as per Underwriter Laboratory specifications.
TERMINAL BOX
We can provide the terminal box at the top or side as required by the application.

MECHANICAL DIMENSIONS
Dimensionally the motor is similar to NEMA standards, which have been adopted by the petrol pump machinery manufacturers in India. This can be seen from the G.A Drawing of the Motor.
